Portrait of Shame

in poem •  5 years ago

What is the shape of shame?
Does it curve with the witness
Sneering lips or sweep up a raised eyebrow?
Do the lines freeze into a judge frown.
How many angles are there to the sin?

What is it's color?
Is it like the blush after the first stolen kiss?
Or green as the grin of envy?
Or red like the date to drown in the area of sweet sweet sin?

What is a texture of shame?
Is it velvet as the cover of lies?
Does it scratch like guilt?
Does it rasp?
