Distances Discourse

in poem •  7 years ago

Distance is a killer it lies beneath
Not only in measurements such as feet
It hides in seconds and hours and minutes and days
It will take all of your loved ones and bury them away

Distance is a killer and all of your friends are dead
You look down at your hands and find them red
You look to the horizon for some salvation
All you see is procrastination

Distance has taken everyone you loved
Now you yourself lay beaten down and shoved
Over the edge of patience and regret and remorse
Finally accepting of distances course

We are all but seconds hours away
To some it's a trip to others it's a stay

We are weeks behind made up plans
Too tired to start over and no longer making demands
I'll hold out for you if you hold out for me
Waiting for the other to want company
