Moonrise/Sunrise

in poem •  6 years ago

The full moon folds August away
With effervescent fingers
What hours you kept to yourself
Where the moons treasure to take as her own

Night was a return to an old devotion
With a distorted disposition

For me
Morning would unravel slowly
A slick silver thread

Who didn’t know there were greater beasts to be slayed
Than the solitude of a constant dawn
