Her sweet melanin popping like the early morning sun, her so gracious smile light up my day. She was my definition of the true African Diva. Her head adored with beautiful Ankara that brought out her perfect brown eyes.
She was all I ever wanted, my sweet Obianuju, so pure, so innocent, I met her and I immediately fell into love’s warm embrace. How can I forget the taste of her lips like perfectly served abacha and ugba, ohi remember the rhythm of her waist like that of an atilogwu dancer.
Her melodious voice befitting of only an Angel. Obianuju, the one that brought me so much joy, her very essence brought peace and calm, her presence I long to be, within her warm embrace was my safe haven.
Ours was love at first sight, me always listening to everything she said, indeed I was a slave of love, her wish was my only command for four years. I toiled the soil day and night to make my Uju happy. For four years I made sure my Obianuju never lacked any good thing she desires.
Her love drunked me to the extent of selling the only land I had because she needed money urgently. My princess, my heartbeat, how lucky I felt I was to walk life’s struggle and hustle with my true love. I could give my life to see that smile only her face can give.
She was all I ever wanted until three months ago, I received an invitation letter that reads Uju weds Obinna. My beautiful obianuju was getting ready to marry her new man in three weeks’ time. Like a battle, my whole wound came crashing before me, like a wounded warrior, I nursed my wound in anguish. My sweet girl was getting married but not to me. In her words, “I was an uneducated man not worthy of her love” but I was worthy to sweat in tears to give her the best life could offer.
She was all I ever wanted until life taught me I can never get all I wanted.

Sometimes life just play it's tricks on so many of us. We deserve that which we desire but for some reason those things just pass us by.

Ouch....mehn....I was kissing love until I read this....
That was true love....giving everything for someone.
Then this....oh my oh....
Betrayal at its peak.
Smiles....
I'd just say....Love is bitter-sweet. It's like a game of luck. You never know if you'd get lucky or not....But you just have to try.
Beautiful piece you've got here.
I'm learning poetry and you just gave me an insight.
Thanks for sharing Boss.
