Light up the Night

in poem •  5 years ago

Spitting flames and eating fire.
That stomach growling,
so hungry for the match.

Rekindle the light inside.
You've always glowed.

The brightest of flickers in that darkened street.

The rush of red announced in hush.
Like sand rolling over glass.
You're in for a hell of a show.
Don't perform if you can't stand the heat.

It will roast you alive.

Stoke the coals
and wait for the awed silence.
The crowd smolders.
Smoke rolling across the flagstones.
Shifting in tempo to the bass.

I am the forest fire.
And the masses are my fuel.
