Pure Snow, Dark Heart (poetic imagery)

There once was a queen both beautiful and vain,
She spoke each day to a reflective glass pain.

For decades its words brought delight and cheer,
But her daughter by marriage grew more stunning each year.

"Who's the fairest?" she asked each day with a smile.
But the reply one day made her heart turn vile.

"Chase the child, cut her down.
Turn her smile into the frown."

But her death that day was not destined to be,
For the woodsman reluctantly her set life free.

The queen again asked, "Who's the fairest now?"
The answer Snow White raised the evil queen's brow.

Into her own hands, she would have to take matters,
With a vengeance so strong, it caused dwarves to scatter.

She left in disguise with fruit from a tree,
She tempted the child and then let her be.

Thought to be dead, the dwarves made a shrine,
Entombed both the girl and her beauty in time.

And all of a sudden, just at the right time,
A prince strolls right on by to see the queen's crime.

Enthralled by her beauty, he moved lifeless Snow White.
The poison dispelled, she awoke with affright.

A story of love, the end of a tale,
Lean your ear close. Can you hear the wedding bell?

@sumatranate you just told one of my favorite fairytales with distinction, thanks for sharing

Challenge to cut the baby? That's really terrible!😰

"Cut down" is an idiom for killing someone (or least that is the context in this case). I did not literally mean to cut the baby, but the Queen in Snow White did want to have Snow White killed.

It's clear now!

nice poem
