I can't be owned- A Poem

in poem •  7 years ago  (edited)

Beautiful an wise, with pure eyes
I'm lovely in disguise.
I'm and angel to some,
a sinner to others
I like expensive dinner,
I'm a freak under the covers.
Find yourself. Don't get lost in me,
because baby, I'm a tragedy.

I break everything I touch,
but you use me as a crutch?
Why? I ask, and you don't know,
but I figured as much.
You should protect yourself.
I'm not a pretty little thing you can put on a shelf.

Unless you like to put bombs on your shelf.
Baby, I told you I was a tragedy,
Never put your faith in me.
I wake up, and I'm still free,
and in the end, you played you, definitely not me.
