Company, the poem

Company

Ears acute
Lumber crackling

The sound of mere company excites the
Owner of the dual footprints in the snow.

Little does he know, it's only the trees whistling
Would that be enough for him, only time will tell.

Into his warm home, a retreat from the world, or a coffin in solitude
Only time will tell

The walls creak with activity, unbeknownst prior to his entry.
Perhaps the company to heal the wounds of solitude.

A furry critter leaps from the wall, relieving its sounds. A furrow of a smile winced across his face.

A moment of company, perhaps isn't so bad.
