Coda

in poem •  7 years ago

If the stages of life could be compared to music or a song composition (Intro, verse, chorus, bridge, verse, coda), then the ultimate refrain or verse would be a summary or the culmination of a persons life: All things settled, or nearly settled, with nothing forgotten and nothing left undone. I attempted to convey that sentiment in 17 syllables:

Twilight testament
A summation of your life
The final chapter

And if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then the following alternative version was inspired by a talented artist (Ms. Foltz) of the written word from whom I unabashedly copied this form.

Last leaf falls
Life’s addendum
Curtain call
