I just learned about poet Hart Crane in Billy Collins' Masterclass.
Billy intrigued me when he said that Charles Bukowski was on the 'easy' to understand spectrum of poetry while Hart Crane was on the 'hard' end of the spectrum.
This isn't to say that 'hard' is better than 'easy', we are just talking about different approaches to poetry. After all, CB is my favorite poet. Billy explained 'hard' poetry as having more symbolic meaning whereas CB was more concrete, a what you see is what you get approach.
In any case, I look forward to learning more about Hart Crane.
