A Hearty Repast

original poetry cycle
part I (of VII)

I.

I feed upon ghosts
                   (Their ectoplasmic broth is my soup stock)
And dine in silence on the pier.
     I gaze out upon the eerie waters &
      Discard my shell-fears in exchange
                 For sand dollars luminous with promise.
My guilt disowns me, lifts itself:
      A spindly carcass fuming skyward,
       Rising like the blue smoke of dawn.
 My scales of memory shed me &
Cast my pink skin into brine;
Flung into saline suspension
I levitate in nebulaic plasma.

Strands black with victory
         Twist through fragmented spacetime;
                Chronotic waves buck the ancient frigate,
Impel its coiling course through
A wilderness of wandering stars.

I fend off floods
  With an ashy wand of heartwood,
Halt the genocide of insects
With a cone of junglous air.
                 Foreboding courses I pursue through
Invisible chasms consume me
With only the merest pause to
        Refresh myself with the water of life
       Which, as it trickles down my spine,
           Bursts my thorn-toes into dreamloam.

Wow. Great one. I don't entirely understand what you are getting at, but the images are fun. 1 of 7... a series, eh? I'm looking forward to the rest.

I love this feedback... thank you!! It did come out rather abstract, didn't it? Some of the other sections will be a bit more concrete. I don't want to totally give away what it's about :)

Yes, since I always do one-off more or less independent pieces, I am challenging myself to write a 21-part poetry cycle in the next three weeks, with three main "chapters" having 7 parts each. Hopefully it will be fun and turn out decent. Thanks for stopping by @dbooster!

The water of life pierces the time, plasma treats the frigate in stormy waves - dilemmas. The nights come to visit my ghosts who are making a career in my food. Ridiculous days carry winged animals in the country of lunatics, poetry wanders from ear to ear. Exellent @d-pend

Great poem again Daniel. Just curious to know the inspiration behind writing such fabulous poem's:) . Do share with us if i am not getting too personal. Upvotedand following u as always.
