Upon these seas of merriment, I row
Through the rivers of apartheid and segregation
In this negro boat.
The creeks seem a slow and steady turbulence,
But their current give me the taste of ----------
But I keep sailing in this negro boat.
I've met strange waters, known waters, waters of
Rejection and outright spurning, yet I keep paddling
In this negro boat.
The sun scorches me, the waves beat me,
The winds quarrel with me,
Yet in this negro boat I'll keep navigating
Untill my eyes come in contact with that lovely sight—
The truth of recognition of my true might,
Assimilated in equality.
