Dilemma of an African girl

in poetry •  7 years ago  (edited)

An African girl's love

What's the need to care for he who doesn't care
When the sun and moon you bring for his care
Yet at your face he won't even stare
Like in it lies his mystery and fear image

People would then call you a slutty girl
When all you wanted was just affection
But your heart so frail
Will face the wrath of pain and dejection

And when you want to start afresh and create a room for a new beginning
He is back at your back like an ugly shadow
Promising the moon he never valued

And you toss and turn and give him a no
Then people will say your heart is made of stone
Forgetting that they had made it so.
