The Spaces in Our Hearts

Hello Steemians,
Today, I’m bringing you another poem from my long felt heartbreak and recovery. A story of what we built together and what we chose to give up. I’m happy he and I are still friends.

The Spaces in Our Hearts

We keep looking back at the foundation
Of castle that was never finished.
And it’s sad
The foundation was perfect,
Not a single crack.
We never argued about where to lay the beams.
What we started to build
Was beautiful
Intricate.
Meant to last....
You had to go back to the building you started before
It wasn’t me
It wasn’t you.
It has holes
And whole collapsed rooms,
But when it’s rebuilt
It will be beautiful...
I’ll continue building this castle,
Because it was always my dream.
And the rooms I built with you
Will always be here.
The ghost you left
Walks them in my dreams.
That truly is enough for me.
