hypocrite // a poem

why do you both like my qualities,
and want to ruin them?
you say you respect my being a virgin,
admire it even,
but then expect me
to sacrifice it for your sake.

you say you like how i'm headstrong,
opinionated, persistent,
but when you are on the receiving end
you call me a bitch.

don't claim to love me
if you expect me to change for you,
for i am my own person
and will exist as i please.
