Creation Myth (Original Poem)

in poetry •  7 years ago

Had a relatively slow day at work yesterday and decided to kill time with a quick rhyme. Its not a "top shelf effort" but I'm happy with it. Had fun writing it.

Creation Myth:

The eternal two met one another in the vast expanse
Of emptiness and energy and they began to dance
Upon embrace a flash of light and matter was created
As they danced and carried on the universe inflated
To so great a distance they could not see from one side to the other
Still they danced their eternal waltz the All Father and the Great Mother
A few quick steps from the Father sent the Mother in a twirl
As she spun back round to him new galaxies unfurled
Back in his arms he catches her and their dance intensifies
While comets stars and asteroids fill the void with light
As to a close drew their waltz the two eternals looked around
At the wonder that they’d wrought and the lifeforms they found
One special world they looked upon and attached they quickly grew
For living there upon it were lifeforms who looked as they do
To protect this world and those living there they both quickly agreed
And each took on a brand new form to better do the deed
The first watch the All Father took and so became the sun
The Great Mother took her moonlit form for when her lovers day is done
He has the day and she the night they only see each other briefly
Their sacrifice made willingly for they both love us deeply
Our sacred duty now it is to honor them and the world they made us
Lest we come to anger them and they decide to un-create us
