No Longer Silent

The same demon
Wears many faces
But we know him only as Addiction
Thought we could control him
You'll quickly learn he's the master
We're only the servants
Suffer in silence and bear our fate
With a smile plastered on our face
Watching the world pass by
Each day die a little more inside
Stuck in the same damn place
Our own living hell
We inadvertently created
With nothing to show for it
Stuck in single cell spun in our mind
Worshipping a master we hate
Self hatred intensified
By the mountains of guilt
Shame
And excuses
We carry like crosses
For giving our life to the one called Addiction
So speak
Right now
Open your mouth
Cry, scream, shout
Anything
Just ask for help
Fight like hell
Like you're fighting for your life
Because you are
You're more than a number, a statistic
You are strong enough to beat this
I promise, I'm not being simplistic
Cause I've been where you are
Even if you can't see it now
This is not a cross you must bear
In silence or alone
You are not alone
So speak
Right now
Open your mouth
We're listening
We're here and we hear
The time for silence has passed
Even if you all you can manage
A barely audible whisper
We hear you still
Just break the silence.
