The Thief, a poem (original)

in poetry •  8 years ago

I was deep in slumber when he went in,
Door wide open he was free to enter,
And anxious to commit a sin,
With the treasures right there, front and center.

Still unaware of what was happening,
I stayed deep in my dreams, all warm and pleased,
While he moved inside as fast as lightning,
And whatever I had were taken, seized.

Violence filled the still and quiet air,
But I had no chance to become distraught,
With this I can say that life was not fair,
Because he easily got what he sought.

It was far too late to put up a fight,
He'd already gone and put out the light.
