One last time, would you lie to me?

in poetry •  6 years ago

As rust eats away its flesh,
Its surface crumbles under the weight,
Of absence and of hollowness,
Like a blackhole preying on light.

I should've read the signs before,
Too much faith I had.
My crutch won't last these many miles,
Soon, I'll say goodbye.

Where are the rainbows?
Where did the rains go?
The calming sound of streams?
The sun that lit up skies,
That came after those nights?

Sing me a song, send me a sign,
Tell me it'll all be fine;
A shooting star across the sky,
To grant me a final wish.

Would you tuck me in?
Sing me to sleep,
With your tender lullabies?
One last time, would you lie to me,
And tell me it'll all be fine.
