The clock starts ticking
The race has begun
The time keeps running
And live goes on

The wake of a pleasant dawn
Smell the merriment in the air
Fried chicken and much fun
Duty awaits, see the pair

Written down, those resolutions
Must vanish from that piece,
Far better are revolutions
That will keep you in peace

Hurry! The new year is old
And every blink spins it gray
Chase manfully, strong and bold
Those goals for which you pray

The year is young? Yes and no
Impatient Time crawls away
If you rise not and go
‘Twill end before you tell the day

The year is pregnant for you
Prepare, she pushes in travail
Lest delivery time is due
And you want the strength to prevail.
