[Poem - With Recitation] Our Son

Agreeing in heart and body and mind,
We joined as one flesh, in body communion.
Hindering nothing, we wanted a child,
Seeking conception through sexual union.

The seed found the egg,
The two became one,
And started a life;
In her womb, it was done.

We cherished and cared for the child yet unborn.
Gave it our love; as we watched, it developed.
Made plans, preparations, in joy paved the way.
Our child to be born, in our love we enveloped.

And when that day did finally come,
Anxiously awaited, that glad day of birth,
The both of us cried with open emotion,
As she brought forth our son, newly born in the earth!

Conceived in our love and brought forth in our care,
We held him and hugged him and loved him so much.
So tiny and helpless, he made our hearts ache.
So precious and dear, and so soft to the touch.

In joy we brought him home, and then we raised him up.
We nurtured him with love, and gave him all our care.
Love and discipline together, watched over our young son,
And our home was very happy, as we grew together there.

The years went by so quickly, and our son became a man,
With a character of gold, full of stature in our eyes.
So genuine, mature, that our hearts did ache with pride,
And as he went out on his own, we watched him, and we cried…

Note: I've been encouraged by some of the feedback I've gotten, so my plan is to continue re-posting poems from the last several months, but now including an audio clip going forward. I'll also be sprinkling in some new (or at least previously unpublished) poems here and there.

I think( this is my personal opinion please don't take it seriously ) no one knows what will born? child could be a son or a daughter. If i am right the name of you poem you could keep 'Our Child'

you explain was excellent in such a way-- how child born and other stuff!! thank you so much

Yes, you are right, of course. I considered revising it to apply to either a male or female child, but this was the version I was inspired to create originally (many years ago), so I decided to leave it alone. I do agree with you that the message could absolutely apply to a female child.
