Those Who Mind Don't Matter, Those Who Matter Don't Mind

in poetry •  4 years ago

Those who matter don’t mind, those who mind don’t matter.
You spit on the street when you see him.
That ugly look you give him is disgusting.
He was the guy who politely held the door open for your mom, daughter or niece at the store.
He gave you a huge bright smile when he saw you.
He spoke to you, nicely.
He was friendly.
But you felt disgusted.
He’s intelligent.
He’s respectful.
He has dignity.
He’s handsome.
He has a great personality.
He reminds your mother, daughter or niece of your father.
He has the characteristics of how you’d want your son to be.
He is a creation of God.
He is a representation of God.
He believes in God.
He is 100% comfortable in his own skin.
He stays true to himself.
He is a man.
A strong man.
A courageous man.
Persistent.
He is talked about negatively.
You think about him negatively.
Bad rumors are spread about him daily.
He is denied daily.
He is misled.
He is mistreated.
He is tortured by society.
He is strong.
He is courageous.
He is productive.
He is determined.
He refuses to give in.
He strives.
He tries.
He gets knocked down.
He gets back up.
He learns from his mistakes.
He improves.
He produces.
He refuses to lose.
He’s a winner.
He’s a champion.
He IS somebody.
You hate him.
You wish for him to go back to Africa.
He is admired.
He is an influence.
He is stronger.
He is better.
He smiles.
He hurts.
He smiles.
He hurts.
He smiles.
He hurts.
He is a leader.
He cries.
They love him.
They hate him.
You hate him.
You’re racist!
Those who matter don’t mind, those who mind don’t matter.
