Easy to be poor - hard to make a living

in poetry •  7 years ago

Have you ever thought about it,
I mean..
Where you might be,
Had it been different.

I speak for myself,
With no regrets,
That I'll never forget,
Where and from whom
I came from.

But what if..

What if it had all been different.

Rain sleet and snow on a sunny day are a norm,
I stand proud and cold to entertain the passers by.
I am both visible and invisible,
Searching only for the change in your pocket.

Years for this I have trained,
My heart and soul have gone into this very moment,
You rate me obligingly,
and generously,
You may tip.

Or you may not.

The better I get,
The more I make.
I start to wonder though,
When might I actually make a living.

It's easy to be poor.
Wrong place,
Wrong time,
Wrong line,
and even if you try..

You might find,
that sometimes,
You still won't get what you need.

But someone else will.

It wasn't your turn today,

But maybe it might be tomorrow.

Good Luck.
