Cigarette Butts - A Poem by BubblyPuppi

in poetry •  6 years ago

Hello, guys!
This is the very first poem that I feel brave enough to share on Steemit.
It documents a recurrent situation between me and my significant other, so it's very close to my heart.

I hope you give it a read and an upvote if you liked it.

Cigarette Butts

We share cigarette butts,
On a Sunday afternoon.
desperate inhalations,
For a god to save us soon.
We cough life away,
In a rough growly noise.
To end a war in shame,
Seems to be the choice.
You sit near my bed,
With lungs set on fire.
You puff your hope away,
In a desperate ring of grey.
Clouds of disdain,
Take away the pain.
We promise we’d come back,
For past is to blame.
