When I lay in the sun and I spread my arms wide, I think about you
I feel you on my left arm
And I feel the warmth of the sun hugging me all over and I'm content
But then I keep thinking about you and thinking about you with the bits of dead crustaceans beneath me and I'm scared
Suddenly the sun is still hot but tears feel hotter
My tears mix with the salty sea until they are nothing, mixed into a salty potion to wash away dead things
Just a smoothie of death and reincarnation
Reincarnation into something better
Sand, bits of shells
All laying in the heat
Fertilizers for life
I lay here sprawled on this salty bed until
Suddenly the scent of the sea blossoms
Into roses
The smell turns back time
We're together in the basement
You have youth and love in your eyes
You hand me a dozen
Roses... for me?
The sea comes back to view and I'm hugging you with my left arm
Grateful for even a thought of you
I'll lay with you here, hugging you with my tears
I'll keep hugging you and hugging you until we're together again
