Time Flies
An Original Poem by @CarlieEster
time flies on evanescent wings
like a butterfly against the wind
we all try to make it back before it’s dark
before the tempest howls for a slowly beating heart
before the snickering shadows of night catch up
with the heavy shuffling of our slowly creaking feet
we all try to fight the fading of that good night
we all struggle treading water against the sharks
but it’s not their bite that tugs us down
nor the current dragging us to drown
it’s the noisy ticking of the clock run out
no matter what you didn’t get to yet
when the death bell sings
it is time to rest.
