I could force a sound
accepting yawp
or barbaric sigh
the most compelling
of human experience
standing in a line
the pothole path
we take turns
holding the sky
no future, no past
memories intermingle
with dreams,
forget their names
at the end of the day
half a hand of antibiotics
sick with apathy
sick with bloom
I used to work in DC and I went up there this past weekend to participate in the march, brought back a lot of memories of my time there and a lot of feelings of what it means to be a youth in the States.

I marched in Southern California last weekend over potholed paths while holding up the sky with the intermingled memories of thousands, including my family by my side and my best friend who traveled to D.C. from Toronto.
And serendipitously, I came across your lines tonight while listening via NPR https://www.npr.org/event/music/597709855/patti-smith-on-mountain-stage?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=nprmusic&utm_term=music&utm_content=20180329 to People Have the Power performed live by Patti Smith and her kids live at Fred Sonic Smith's induction into the W. VA Music Hall of Fame. My hat at the march was emblazoned with those lyrics. Dude, you're making me cry with your beautiful words captioning our experience. Thank you.

The potholes in this poem are only metaphors, I should mention, the district does a better job of keeping up its roads than most any other city I've lived in stateside.
Is a favorite beginning to any Patti Smith song - what an iconic hero.

In adolescence we are rebellious with music. We are tired of apathy, only what interests us. Greetings.

too true, I'm still too young to grow out of my rebellious music and, like most adolescents do, I hope I never grow out of it. <3

It is a wonderful crafted piece with some very poignant imagery. Can I ask on its inspiration?

Cheers for the backstory. They say happiness is about balance. Things maybe a little off center right now.

I feel like for most of what I read from you... I have no words.
So I'm just gonna say thank you.
