My Earnest Plea

Out of life's shell
I shall emerge strong and victorious
That in this crooked vale I might survive
The harsh reality of life

Teach me, Lord, that real
Strength lies not in
Muscle but in you

Teach me Lord to be humble
In my failings
Knowing that my life is a shattered dream without you

Teach me Lord
that man
is nothing but of dust
and
unto dust he shall return

Teach me, Lord
to be humble
knowing the ugly realities of pride
teach me how to anchor my soul in you
and how to tilt towards you
when life stormy winds toss me

To you o Lord
I lean on
save me, lest I am drowned in willful sinfulness
