.
On the wall in my father's house
And the looks in his eyes
Every time he sits with his brother's portrait
Weeping with a face- dipped in pale memories
Memories that turn a boy away from the world
And from the solemn notes of homecoming
I do not know much about brotherhood
And the bond that bind brothers
To the potency of their mother's blood
Till the day he sat us under the moon
Counting the stars as the number of times
His brother sank to keep him floating
He said a time would come in a man's life
When he shall gnash his teeth
On the thoughts of gunned days
Days spent on bed of stones
With people who called our shadows; beautiful reflections- at nights when the moon
Fill our bodies with broken poems
And with battles that leaves one- empty.
He said someday we shall find ourselves
In a land- strange like the waters flowing in his vein
And we shall meet people;
-some of which shall bring light
To the darkness eating our bodies
-some of which shall consume our hearts
With love and everything colourful
-some would be like the wind
They'll touch our lives and walk away
-some would cover our skins
With names that hold roses to healing
-some would veil the shame in our bones
Where a boy once mocked his sister's pride
And others shall chisel our beings till we look like God.
If i could rewrite those days fate walked into us- barefooted
I would write us into existence again
Nicely crafted. Way to go.
