The devastation engulfed her expression,
with a contrast of confusion shaping her eyebrows.
Her mind was lost in a deep depression
A layer of despair blanketed her cracked tear-filled lenses.
She wished so dearly to change tenses.
She didn’t want to be in the past
She didn’t want the mourning to last.

Her hands dug into the soil allowing the dry dirt to slide under her small nails
Her vision focusing on the grave stones writing.
She glared at her name written there
She could hear there forlorn wails
Why did she have to leave?
She stole their hearts
She was a selfish thief
She ripped up the flowers and tore them apart
The compacted dirt she began to pound
Beckoning her into the ground.
Once more she looked at the sky
She had a thought she couldn’t deny:
It began to rain
And hid the tears revealing her pain
she wondered if roses would bloom or thorns?
