Scuffed Slippers
I have come to love your tattered soul,
And you mine.

Our once grasping embrace
Loosens now as we dance.

I no longer wish to repair
The frayed hem of your dress
Or seek to replace
Your scuffed slippers.

I no longer notice the faltered step
In your beautiful rhythm;
And you whisper,
"That's O.K."
When I step on your toes!

What a pair we make
Spinning under the moon to our own music,
Our hearts sharing breath,
Our eyes mirroring love.
