Worth of Words <poem>

in poetry •  7 years ago

Once a word was enough,

but then a man thought to bluff.

More folks felt wronged,

and played that song,

and soon our trust was gone.

But again that life we may live.

Promise no more than we can give.

Give no less than deserved, and

think our words; be reserved.

We've not crashed, merely swerved.
