A Lady [3]- Full Length Poem Published on Steemit

in poetry •  7 years ago

THIS IS THE CONTINUATION OF A FULL-LENGTH POEM I RECENTLY COMPLETED. I WILL BE SHARING ALL HERE ON STEEMIT. thanks for reading:

Was it not last week, Princess,
When Mary looked her stark.

—My love, she said,
My trove;
My way by night my light by day.

Startled and frightened at once Hannah prayed.
It was dark that night
And all the crickets sang.
The streets were empty and
All our own minds were dark.

Grace yes,
Yes grace,
Grace will get us through.

No, not she,
Not Grace with the big bony ass,
Yes Grace, grace with the bold stony guile.

Are you crazy?
Out your old crazy mind?

Around here there is no grace—
No bold stony guile.
None at all. Not one. Not her,

Definitely not I.

—Help dear Lord,
For I know not what to say,
Or in what way to proclaim,
That my own self
Is a lady who is frail,

Straying loose,
Blind with no aim.

—Help dear Lord,
For your word
Through eternity remain same,
And surely this uncanny heart
Pushes me to shame.
