POEM - Years Unkind

Years Unkind

We see our faces blankly fade
The colour in our eyes, drift and drain away
We see our smile twist and misbehave
Beyond the world
Behind the eyes
A place of solitary decay
Some rise above
Some search for love
Other search for pay
Either path escapes a painful place
A journey from disdain
A trepidacious trip
A quest to light the flame
