The Blood-Spangled Banner

in poetry •  6 years ago

Oh say can you see
By the dawns early light
How proudly did we Heil
At the news hour's fresh beaming

Whose broad stripes and bright stars
Through the perilous fight
O'er the oil fields they sought
Black gold plunder was gleaming

And the rockets red glare
The bombs bursting in air
Grave proof in the night
That our flag flew in terror

Oh say does that blood-spangled
Banner yet wave
O'er lands once roamed free
Our home built by slaves
