The hardest part of writing a poem is finding the most convincing and honest words that could transmit the message and feelings smoothly to your reader. In my opinion, it is the duty of the poet to make his/her works in the same realm with its audience. Absurdism is an exception but it has to be minimized because it makes the essence of art wither away from the art per se.
In this poem, I used the most honest and simplest words to convey my complex ideas to the world.
A dead poet cannot speak;
cannot blink; cannot see
The flesh is gone and
bones pile up; thawed by heat
A dead poet cannot think;
cannot imagine; cannot write
The life is gone and
brain rot; vanished in air
A notebook can be burned;
stepped upon; sold to anyone
ripped apart; thrown into
the deepest trench in the ocean
But poems are immortalized
a product of the mind and soul
that only extinction can extinguish
its existence and worth
Please feel free to critique my poem. I would appreciate if comments would be in a constructive criticsm form.
Thank you!
