Whurhe obotor urie na ~ Up from the bed of the river.

Oghenevwe ghwo ekpe ~ My God scooped the soul,

Mavwe ovweaboroyi eghworlo ~ Moulded me in His lovely hands.

Oghenevwe odi isio I've ovwaso na ~ My God who flung the stars across the Velvet of the night.

O vwi uriri oye wokakpona urukpe ~ Who lit the universe with His glory:

Omemamo nana kiri onu ovwe ghworlo ~ This lovely sculptor like a lovely mother,

Kpa ho omoroye yorovwe aboroye ~ holding her baby in her hands.

Whe ovi uwevwe ~ Blew His breath into me,

Erhi oye, oya kpovwe** ~ His Spirit, my life.

Eta roye kevwe ke na ~ His words for me were,

Me ghwolo whe ~ l love you
