Жила-была серая кошка. Одна. Без кота. Любила кошечка сидеть у окна. В окне кошка видела рельсы, по которым каждые пять минут проносились трамваи и бездомного кота, гуляющего по дорожке.
Бездна ночи открывалась каждый раз перед глазами кошки. Хозяином кошки был старенький добрый кардиохирург. Доктор часто гладил по шёрстке кошечку, любил питомицу, но он много времени проводил на работе, и серая кошка постоянно скучала. Отрадой для нее был только бездомный кот, гуляющий за окном.
Так сильно тосковала серая кошка по хозяину и по бездомному коту, что стала волшебной и выучилась в одиночестве писать стихи и играть на музыкальных инструментах. Старенький доктор обрадовался, что его кошка стала необычной, и на радостях взял домой бездомного кота. Да и бросил работу и переселился с кошечкой и котом в деревню. И зажили они втроём очень-очень счастливо и весело.
