"Your real smile"

in poetry •  7 years ago

Smile your real smile
With twisted broken yellow teeth
I don't long for pretense
Take me underneath
To where you keep
Your real self
Live your real life
On a path of constant curves
You won't always win
Or get what you deserve
But you remain
You still remain
So I'll see that so real smile
Again

Thanks for reading. I think sometimes we're encouraged to pretend we feel better than we do.

It's not always easy to keep going in the face of difficulty or in the aftermath of something tragic but it's worth it and it's meaningful.

Healing can take some time and it's exhausting. But it's a beautiful experience at the same time. I wish everything gets better soon and I hope we can follow each other :)

Thanks. It's a process but the first step is knowing that it's possible at all and trying. I'm headed to your blog to check it out :)

Wow this hits me in the feels for sure!

I can totally relate to this, I really struggle to not put up a facade / shield. It's just so damn brutal out there. 😔

It can be brutal and not putting up a facade is hard (especially if that's how you grew up) but if you take it one day at a time it get's easier. I struggle with it too and I'm sure a lot of other people do behind their shields.
