YELLOW FEATHER: Sumthin' 'bout a cloudy day, lets the clearest thoughts through.

in poetry •  8 years ago

Last night it rained in Acapulco.
Much of today, too.
Hard. Long.
With lil' courtesy breaks in between.
But the gist was... DOWNPOUR.

The cleansing kind
The Where-Is-Noah?! kind
The I-Am-Nature-And-I-Just-Fucked-Up-Your-Plans! kind

of down-pour.

Sumthin' 'bout a cloudy day, lets the clearest thoughts through.

And walking along,
as I do, these adopted streets...

I wasn't looking up to the sky

for rainbows.

I was looking down to the ground,
trying to avoid a neck-break.

(Ankle-twisters much? Why, yes!)

I was looking down, to the ground
(from whence my stability comes)

I was looking down, to the ground
(from whence my humility comes)

I was looking down, to the ground
(from whence my renewing strength comes)

and that is when I saw the most beautiful yellow feather...

detached, obviously, from its Source.
Its function.

But not from my observation
of its beauty,
its color,
its potential,
its story....

It would be remembered...

...strewn,
yet
beheld.

By me.

And now, you.

Got 7 minutes? That's half the battle... blocking that much time, lol

Now, how 'bout a monkey -- of ANY sort -- on your back that you're tired of carrying?

Play the video below:

It's Zack Hemsey's "The Way", and if you're the sort who requires a sample (I respect dat)... at 4:42 he says: "If you can't see the sky, there's too much artificial light." I can't/won't arm-twist beyond that!

Then, WITH THE UTMOST KINDNESS TOWARD YOURSELF, consider:

Your greatest hurt, it
excavated your heart's capacity.

Your biggest loss, it
cleared space for your new precious things.

Your biggest vision, it
won't be seen by many (at first).

AND ALL THOSE THINGS CAN FEED YOUR STRENGTH!!

Eat it, like the nourishment that it is.

That yellow, that beaconed hope from the ground
is to assure you that you are complete in yourself.

But that is a hard message to receive. To really believe.
Maybe it helps to know you're not integrating it alone.

Hey! I'm Erika, and I'm curious about using language as a catalytic + restorative liberation technology. I call it word alchemy, and am experimenting with that here on Steemit. As we all are, I suppose. If you like this sort of oddly flavored thing, add me to your feed: @erikaharris. Your time and attention is precious. Thanks for sharing a lil' of it with me. XO
