Saved at the Edge of Nothingness

in poetry •  7 years ago

As I walk through the crimson curtain

past the bloodied pillars, I come to it.

The towering wall of the dead.

As I close in on the base of the wall, I see him

The gate keeper

Standing in a black, red rimmed, hat.

He is smoking a cigar, inhaling.

The smoke pours out his frame from the

lack of flesh concealment.

He was there waiting for me

he told me

old bones are to be forgotten.

It's time to step back into the world of the living.

So I take the dive and I jump

not head first nor feet first,

I just let go and free fall

I realize, I now have a chance to know, everything.

I am making every effort to not lose a moment.

Taking it all in, to know it in my bones.

Forcing myself to always say how I feel, trying to show how I feel as well.

Doing everything out of love.

Excellent.

Your cigar man reminds me of Baron Samedi somehow...
