Soliloquy III

in poetry •  6 years ago

If the Truth was but feather light
Would we lift it not?
Or cast it to the strong amongst us?
And they thus lift it while we gaze in awe

If the Truth was but sweet as the tastiest wine
Would we allow ourselves to be tipsy?
Tipsy for its honest, innocent high
Would we lose ourselves and reel in our delirium

If the Truth would bring forth but a noose to our necks
Would we dorn the rope with pride?
Would we crave death over false thriving life?
Would we mourn a life wherein justice dies?
