Black Man Delusion (A Poem)

I survived the apocalyptic destruction of the Tupac era.
In my youth, DC was Chicago today... mirror

My American experience has been an almost daily reminder of my mortality

the eagle is fitting

comfort is my delusion

Daily the sun exposes my dark skin to preying eyes

The moon's effect on cannibals is vivid at night

Humans separated by race... kill, kill, kill

Ideology is the measurement of human intelligence, from a distance

our maker hears our prayers, possibly asking why we believe death

is the only way to meet.... her

Are we

A people stupid enough to believe differences make us different

Or a people naive enough to think similarities make us one

Loud opinions decide my fate hundreds of years ago

a CON used to institute my trading price. A value unforgotten by

preying eyes.

Profit is my enemy, for I am profitable

comfort is my delusion
