Water Falls

I wake up, try to clear my head, reach for the bottle by the bed
I take a shot and burn it down, then swing my feet down to the ground.
Time to face another day.
I stand up, walk down the hall. In the bathroom mirror on the wall
Those wasted eyes, what do they see? A shadow of what used to be....
I turn the shower on

And the water falls
From my head down to the drain, I try to wash away the pain
Of one more crazy, hellish night. All that booze and a crazy fight.
I don't know when I'll get my fill. It seems like I've lost my will.
I cannot stop this on my own, and in this world I am alone.

I clean up, try to hide my breath, my hands are shaking. I'm scared to death.
I'm off to face another day. I hope somehow I find a way,
to turn my life around.
I struggle to give up the drink, but when I'm dry I just can't think.
The storm inside me starts to grow. The driving wind begins to blow.
There's thunder in my chest.

And the water falls.
Lightning crashes all around, there is no shelter to be found.
From way up here on this ledge, I feel like jumping off the edge.
As I'm falling out of grace, I feel the rain upon my face.
I know it cannot stop the pain, still I'm sure I'll jump again.

I stumble, then keep on walking, beside me there's a man and he keeps talking.
He's telling me there is a way to keep the thunder clouds at bay,
there's shelter from the storm.
I choke up, I lose my voice. I can't believe I have the choice,
to lay my burdens on the ground before the one who wears the crown.
He says His burden's light.

And the water falls.
From my eyes I can't stop crying. I can tell he isn't lying.
It was my choice to walk away, I see that now and so I pray.
Lord please take this pain away, I can't endure another day.
I'd rather give my life to you, the one who came to make things new.
