LIVING IN OBLIVION!

Oh yes!, it's the green, white and the green
Finally, the independence given to us by the queen
Reminiscing all battles fought, where have our heroes been?

The fight for the glory to rekindle
Had left our economy to dwindle
Now everything turned sour in a twinkle

What a poor turnout of good intention
Left bad people out, and good people in detention
October 1st 1960 was a joyous event
Made us celebrating every year to that effect

Who is to be blamed for the values lost in our descents?
Now our future speaks our language with exotic accents
The red ears? No, they took what's ours with our consent
Leaving us hopeless in apprehension, oh! When next will there be a God sent?

Damn! No one ever believed in this country
Look into the future and see her glory coming
The Europeans ate the yam from our cleft
Instead for us to regrow what was left
They made mockery of us as we eat the yam sett

Series of leaders with no international recognition
No vision, no provision, no fantastic disposition
Make the flag fly, but the string won't allow
Head bent that the future is callow
I'm spitting all these, though no one can feel my pain
I'll patiently wait, till the flag flies high again
