THE CROSS ROAD

in poetry •  7 years ago

This a song written by Adetona Abidemi N.
It illustrates how people let their desires bring about their damnation,
Only to later realize that the price is costlier than the prize,
We've all been to the cross road,
But the path we chose distinguishes us

You are on the the road
But you missing home
You are all alone
Ever since you gone
You are on the go
But you want to come home
You are missing home
But you cannot come home

Met you at the crossroad
Where you took the devil's deal
You accepted the ordeal
So that you could play the strings

People's attention, you wonder how it feels
You traded your heaven for the living
You created the horror that you live in
You sold your soul
That is unbelieving!

You sacrificed
Yes, you'll pay the price
Now they all surprise
How you swiftly rise

Under shades you hid your eyes
For it is where the truth lies
You are afraid someone might see you
For what you truly are
Now you know it's true
That all you feel are not real
You decieved everyone
And now
You are the only one
The truth haunts
