With a Killer's Heart

With a killer's heart
compassion for an injured bird
heart beating fast in furious fear
it flies away. Saved.

With an evil heart
I hate myself
longing for the mercy killing
from a loving Creator.

With an arrogant heart
teaching those without ears
in futility.
I am the locust.

With a fearful heart
hiding in anticipation
of the glimmer of hope
I once saw in a far off country.

With a lustful heart
that wants not love
but instead
I steal that which is not mine.

With a selfish heart
all is rose colored
in the center of me
and mine.

With a redeemed heart
there is newness of life
a new creation
captivating all thoughts.
