Gods of Growth: A Poem

Gods of Growth

The wind begins to bluster,
Mustering into a tempest,
Tame skies transformed,
As surging clouds gather,
The God of Storm.

Lightning slashes through sky,
Dark clouds cracking open,
Spilling water into wind,
Drops wildly dancing,
While they descend.

A pitter-pattering of drops,
Becomes a showering symphony,
As a million falling spheres magnify,
Mother earth drinking deeply,
From the sky.

Dirt dampens as water seeps,
Into soil where seeds sleep,
Yawning open in the ground,
While waking from dry dreams,
Happily drowned.

Faster time begins to flow,
Growing like green shoots,
Searching the damp dark,
Weaving ever-upward,
Seeking light’s spark.

Sprouting out from soil beds,
Buried seedlings burst forth,
Bringing end to their night,
The brightly shining sun,
God of Light.
