The comfort of a blanket
Set fire and abandoned
An unfulfilled rein-check
Illogic demanded
Burdened by the fox and hound
Returning empty handed
The mouse paralyzed by the sound
A hawk has landed
Nearly trapped in a clawed grasp
Yet still missing the way it was before
Watching from inside your mask
Toxic seeping from the core
And life's sails adjust with the wind
Dancing with freedom
My only friend
