Reward

You sometimes long to forget
And come back to the way you were before.
But life is not here to please you,
It has other plans for you in store.

You’re trapped in your every day,
Mundane, bleak ’n’ plain in every single way.
You ask: “Will this ever change?
Must I bear with this ’til I fade away?”

But silence is your response.
You won’t know for sure. You’ll just have to wait
And meet every hit and stare,
Spiteful word and thought. Praise though might come late.

You’ll think: “Will it ever come?
Is this all in vain? Where is my reward?”
But look around and you’ll see.
It’ll come dressed as those who’ll be your support.
